Hi, any tips regarding hill start. My drive is on a steepish slope. When i start the car to pull away from Park to Drive the car rolls backward. Seems to happen even if I slowly release brake when applying the accelerator. I have to apply more pressure to move the car away to prevent it rolling back further. Shouldn’t the car automatically prevent this from happening? Any tips?

Mine's an MG4, but presume they are similar. Sit on seat, car boots up. Foot on brake. Put into D. Foot off brake. Drive off.
Shouldn't roll back. If yours is the the same.

Thanks for response, does yours roll back if you release the brake in drive? I do all you have said but when I release brake to drive off it rolls back.

If its the same as the mg5, put it in drive then turn the park brake back on.
Accelerate and the park brake releases and off you go.

Or use auto hold if you have it.

Are you in OPD?
If I'm not in OPD, car creeps forward as soon as foot off the brake. In OPD it's stationary on a flat road, doesn't go forward until accelerator is pressed. I'm wondering what would happen if I was on a hill. Wouldn't surprise me if it rolled back?

Yeah I’m in OPD. I thought it would automatically stop it rolling back when I go into drive. There’s a lag when you put your foot on the accelerator so could be rolling back before it kicks in?? But why isn’t it automatically holding it when I go into drive?

Good point, but I guess it just doesn't work that way, another MG quirk.
OPD will come to a dead stop if you're moving, but if you've gone from N to D, it's waiting for accelerator movement.
Starting without OPD you shouldn't roll back, but once moving, selecting OPD is a pain, you need to take eyes off the road.
What happens if you use the brake button? I've never used it like that, I would assume it holds it until accelerator is pressed. One more action required, but shouldn't be a big hassle.
