There is standing joke over here about someone who transferred within the company to Australia, I'll post it in the joke section.

Just so members don't think I'm exaggerating, a few photos from this morning

It was so hot inside the car, it was a quick photo snap and out to hopefully let it cool down a bit.

07 =01=26 so hot and dry weeds dying.webp

That green leaf thing is an absolute menace weed, I have dragged it out with a winch on the trailer, ripping up roots and all, twice now, sprayed the hole with Round Up .... I thought nothing killed them ..... I might be wrong about that.

The small green leaf plants with what's left of a yellow flower, are another invasive weed, but the flowers are pretty and come out in a lot of colours.
Seeds spread like the scotch thistle "Father Christmas" white fluffy carrier in the wind. They are tough plants as well, run over it with the mower and the next day, new leaves and flowers, a sprinkle of rain or the hose, same thing .....

The rest are basic weeds, the brown heap is a sort of ground cover, forget about grass over here, if the weeds can't survive, without constant water like the golf course, grass doesn't stand a chance.

The car turned off, apologies for the blurred photo, start to get the shakes in that heat ...... hotter in the car than outside

Even the bubble wrap reflective window cover didn't help that much ..... or maybe it did, I could touch the steering wheel and touch screen this time

I've done it this time  Did the drivers window down, reach in and lock the door and then put the window up ..... went out there just now, centre screen reads 50 something, everything still running ...... and it appears I must have locked the fob inside the car
Can't get a photo through the tinted windows, it's probably nice and cool in there, but I can't get in until the wife gets home, probably another 6 hrs away .....
I have no intension or risking it to walk the 2 5kms to the pub/club to stay cool in their air con ..... and possibly have a few cool drinks to keep the hydration up .... so, another warm water cold shower and lie on the bed under the air con vents again .... We do what we have to do, a tough life, but I'm hoping I'm up to it

At least I won't be walking out there again for a while as it reaches the hottest part of the day ..... weather app says it's 40*C ..... I'm sure they put their gauge in the fridge to save it from rupturing .....

Terry, that's serious. Am I reading it right that you have aircon in the house?*

Can't you open the car from the app on your phone? Who do we call if you stop responding?

* motorhome, of course - forgetting you don't actually have a house right now.

Air con in the motorhome, but the heat soak area is a bit beyond the air con's ability to keep the temp down.

I don't have a phone app for the car, keep meaning to down load and set one up, but that hasn't happened ....

If I'm not responding, I'm probably having a sleep spread eagled on the bed under the air con vent, the bedroom is the coolest fortunately, so I'll close off the other 6 vents so all the air blows over me 🆒 .... Just like your bikini photos, I won't be sharing any of those photos on here. :ROFLMAO:

If it's like that in south Australia, what the hell is it like in the north?
Not as hot, a lot more humidity, and they have the "build up" to the wet season even further up, the humidity is to the point that without 24/7 air conditioning, clothes in cupboards go mouldy because they remain wet, along with the interior of the caravan or motorhome ..... dehumidifiers and the moisture absorbing containers with the white flakes as very popular in high humidity areas as well, one in each cupboard, empty the water regularly and refill with new flakes that you can buy in bulk.
When the wet season finally lets loose, the temp doesn't drop, I really don't understand the people who choose to live there ...... most are either paid so well they stay, or they simply can't afford to leave .....

And yet, it's fine here. Entirely habitable.
People live in the Australian topend, they even live here in Mannum ;)
Further inland, places like Coober Pedy, they live underground, simply too hot to live on the surface, places like Oonadatta and the Pink Roadhouse, famous for the hottest day at 50.7*C, but heat waves lasting for weeks with overnight temps above 40*C
This bit is from some time ago, but sort of paints a picture

This was 8 yrs ago in Adelaide .... Adelaide in on the edge of the ocean via a piece of Australia missing and being filled in by the ocean

A reference of where Mannum is to Adelaide
Reference Adelaide to Mannum.webp

The Workshop site is about where the white dot is after the last righthand turn
Workshop after fire.webp

As a size reference, that orange/red thing is a 20ft container, the white thing near the fence is the 36ft bus to motorhome abandoned project.
Hard to reference, but before the fire, the workshop was bigger than the one next door, both in width and length

Later in the afternoon, we decided to go to Modbury (Adelaide western suburb) Jay Car to pick up a Cat 5 plug crimper and cable tester we realised we hadn't ordered on evilbay. It was now apparently a tad warmer

On the road to Modbury, it got even warmer, even though we were now in a moving airstream ... A bit blurry, Margaret was driving, hence the shaking

When we reached Jaycar in Modbury, it was after 5pm, but the heat soak in the concrete jungle, even though the parking area was in shadow

Really felt the heat getting out of a 21*C MG4

Outside working in it, or you just know it was 56*C outside ;) :D

T1 Terry
A bit of both ... most of my work though was in air-conditioned equipment rooms (ERs). :)

Working in the turbine halls and other indoor areas was worse than outside though ... outside was 56°C and dry; inside was 42°C and very humid. (ERs were 22°C and very nice). ;)
