Harder than it used to be, it seems! I went to my local Halfords store, as I could get free fitting. All ordered and booked, no problem. Then when they saw the car they said they're not allowed to work electric cars, as they have to be specially trained, because they're interfering with electrics. Even for a 12v battery, which is also the electrics, but apparently that's different. Very apologetic and suggested I go to one of their garages. So I checked I could book in for today, and got a full refund on the one from the store. So far so good. Got to the garage, booked in ok, then the guy tells me they don't know when it will be ready, as they don't keep the batteries in stock and have to order them in. I could have brought it with me from the store. I'm also fairly confident I could have bought a spanner and done it myself.

I assume you'd have to tell Halfords what your car was before actually booking it in for the battery replacement, if so they should have known it was an EV, and told you they couldn't do it?

That would be too easy! Annoyingly I have an account and motoring club membership, so yes the system already knows it's an EV. I only went to the store to get the free fitting, if I'd known they couldn't do it I would have booked the garage or mobile fitting to begin with. Hopefully they'll send me a feedback form :)

Buy a new battery from Tayna delivered for half the price of Halfords, undo a bolt and swap it yourself. Perhaps.? Other than using your membership could you do it yourself?

That's better :)

M`y local Halfords has no problem working on EVs. Had my MG5 in for a 12v battery issue a few weeks ago.
However, do as Gomev suggests, buy a decent battery from Tayna and fit it yourself.
