Hi I have just exchanged my HS petrol auto 2022 for the new Hybrid + and am absolutely delighted with it. So comfortable, economical and a treat to drive. My one issue , and on I believe is a serious one, relates to the fog and rear high vis lights. MG have taken the on/off switch off the steering stalk and put two icons on the right hand side of the information screen or in the settings. To operate you have to look away from the road to find the two icons on the screen and then ensure your finger pressure is correct before you operate them The other way is to go into the setting and scroll down to the fog and spot light switched and then press to switch on.

These lights are needed in those conditions were concentration on the road is essential. I have had two occasion recently in bad weather, rain, bad visibility and heavy traffic on a Motorway and having to look away to operate these lights.. Who ever thought of taking them off the stalk and onto the touch screen obviously was more concerned about costs than safety.

Am I missing something. Any comments would be appreciated. I have written to MG but to date no response other than acknowledement.

Otherwise as I say a great car.

Hi Malcom,
The ZS hybrid also has many features that make it unsafe. Having to navigate one screen to another to move between sat nav, radio, temperature etc (I know that some of these tasks are possible using buttons or steering stalk).

Wasn't life easier with manual controls, when you could operate dials and buttons when not looking at them, and actually keeping your eyes on the road.

This may sound silly but on our December 2025 HS Hybrid + you can press the icon on the infotainment system and they are actually working buttons. Even the sales rep thought they were just icons. They are on the top right so close to steering wheel.

Yes, this is what we have been talking about; the difficult to press while driving buttons/icons.

You have to get your finger in just the right place, if not, you may end up in a completely different screen.

Do you just have one rear fog lamp on yours? Ours is December 2025 and only has one.

Hi, yes just the one on rear, none at the front.

Mine is 2025 model, but collected Dec 24. MG ZS hybrid +

We have two front but just one rear. Not sure why a car with all the advance safety features has only one rear fog light.
Maybe the light bar at the back is more visible in foggy conditions.

Hi I have written to MG support about these icons and what I consider to be a dangerous situation as things are good when you have to use them and taking your eyes off the road is not a good idea. Why, apart from cost, would you ever consider taking them off the lighting stalk. It is like the automatic headlights they come onto early and one cannot over ride then like you could on my 2022 HG HS 'exclusive.

MG support stated that the use of the icons as been reported to the relevant department as it appears others have reported the same. Can I encourage others to contact MG support and get it home to them that this is a serious issue and not one to be ignored. Best way to contact support is via the contact form on the MG web site. (Dont expect a prompt response as I had to send two reminders)

I have also asked if I got a car electrician to fit switches would it void my warranty. I suspect it would.

HS hybrid+ Trophy despite these two issues is a great car with excellent mpg. I reckon I am getting a third better fuel consumption.
