I'm just going outside for a while.

No Windows 11 because M$ checks say so? if so you can still easily install it, YouTube is your friend.
There are written instructions as well but basically
1 download a win 11 disk image to a usb stick
2 add a bit of code to the registry to tell Windows to ignore the check on secure format version number
3 reformat your hard drive to UEFI partition
4 install win 11 from the USB stick.

You then have to reinstall all the MS programmes and you may have to buy new licences. Search online for a one time pay up front user licence as a subscription licence is expensive !

Well, this is it , could be the end? With no knowledge what so ever I'm dumping Windows 10 for Linux Mint on my old computer which won't do 11. I could end up lost in internet space like the Matrix, forever fighting Mr Smith whilst you lot witter on about the latest MG 12 with its new hyperon batteries. Read all the articles , got my USB sticks and assorted tools , left handed screwdriver , chocolate hammer etc , and would like to say I look forwards to all the insults aimed my way , if I get them I'll see it as a win! Wish me luck , I'm going in.........
How is the Linux Mint going?

I've managed to get a dual boot setup with Linux Mint / Windows 11, there has been a bit of a learning curve, but Youtube has been my friend. I now have everything working in Linux (even OneDrive), and I've stopped using Windows.

There's one thing you have to watch if you haven't already sorted it. A W11 update could wipe grub. Sorry I don't know how to fix this, but there are posts about it on the mint forum.

I've used Linux/Ubuntu for years & much prefer their OS over Windoze, I have three desktop PCs in different rooms of the house/bedroom with Linux/Ubuntu & I've just bought a half decent used Win 10 PC i7 & 16gb memory for the conservatory, but apparently it doesn't fit the bill for Win 11. I had a spare SSD lying around so I've installed Linux Cinnamon LTS on it & it runs like a champ.
