IM5/IM6 Improvement requests?

People are always going to get different results, because of different terrain and driving styles.

Personally I think it is still too early to make a judgement, I want to see what happens in warmer weather and summer range. And understand if the intelligent battery warmer is on and affecting the figures.

The range is either enough or it isn't. It would certainly be enough for me and a lack of efficiency will mainly cost on long journeys, of which I don't take many. Someone driving long distance everyday would notice the cost for sure.

These are definitely not the most efficient cars, that seems clear: but are they merely average or poor?

I know it depends on the journey type but plenty of owners aren't seeing the figures you are seeing, you don't need to look further than this forum to know that
Then I guess it must be the way they drive as the car can be efficient. I have been driving EVs for over 11 years so have had lots of experience.

It is down to the car too. Mine is the Launch version; it is as thirsty as a sailor on leave.
And I do drive it with it being preheated in the morning, on ECO, anticipating every braking needed and all.
No issue with it; conscious of my choice. But efficient it is not.

Sure, but I expect you did not buy the launch version because of the range…..

Of course not :) as said I am conscious of my choice.
Being thirsty doesn't bother me to be honest. Could it be improved? Probably. Maybe with software tweaking on how to use the 2 motors more frugally.
Is it my top pet hate in need of fix? Not really. There are other issues (which I have mentioned before as recommendations for the first OTAs) that I would like to see that are dealt with. And probably easier to short out too.

Would like to also mention that the power of the car is unbelievable. To the point that sport mode is not really needed.
I am finding ECO to be the same as casual in my old Tesla while Comfort is equivalent with Sport.
Sport on the IM is insane ;)

Hi All,

I've got a meeting this week with the head of IM Motors.

If anyone has any feedback that they'd like to provide? I'm thinking of software bugs, any persistent teething issues, something that we could sort with an OTA in the near future?

I know that IM Motors themselves are on with rolling out a couple of patches soon, but if anyone has anything they'd like me to raise with them, please let me know.

Thanks,
Miles
Hi Miles
Continuing issues with my IM5:

There was a slight rattle at rear of car. Others are reporting this too - is there a soltuion
The phone app loses link to car, stopping use of the app
I need to use card or app to open car, on Tesla I could just walk to the car and it would recognise me and unlock car and then automatically lock it as I walked away
Car start with phone/app rarely works and I seem to need to go to the app to make it work, I think I should be able get into car and it recognise that I have phone with me so I do not need to use the card
I have registered the car with my Spotify account but it seems to forget this and I am requested to register
The app is very slow.
The car does not remember my settings, every time I get into the car I have to switch it to Sport and switch off driver aids that are constantly beeping

I have had no over air updates so far, I used to get them every two weeks on my Tesla

Not sure I have seen any other reports about a rattle, other than 2 that found the towing hitch in the far rear of the boot.
My app, on iphone, has been solid. Are you using android or apple?
I assume to unlock you can simply touch the door handle? I can use my app to unlock/lock the door and start the car, but I need to open the app to do it. The wish to unlock using the phone without doing anything was raised in the original tranche.
No idea about Spotify.
The car will always activate the safety settings like ADAS and Sport and I think it is the same in all modern cars (certainly was in my last 2).

If I may comment on the Tesla OTA's since I had a Tesla for 6 years.
Tesla being the first company introducing OTAs milked it beyond measure as a selling point.
Instead of rolling out big updates with all improvements included they were breaking them down to give the sense of innovation.
Furthermore the last 2 years the majority of OTAs were pointless. Most were focused on visualisation and FSD improvements; completely irrelevant for UK and Europe.
At the same time they still can't fix the bloody wipers firing due to sun glare and the removal of parking sensors actually downgraded parking capabilities.

I am dead keen on having OTAs from MG/IM; don't get me wrong. But as long they can bring improvements. Updates on games, lightshows and fart modes are not my idea of improvement.

Apologies; can you expand on the comment about the towing hitch??

Bit late to respond to this, but I do have a rattle in the boot area, and it's not anything moving around in there. I suspect the boot lid is not seating fully so I'm gradually unscrewing the bump stops out in an attempt to solve the issue. No luck yet, but the boot still closes ok so I may have to screw them out even further. Failing that, its back to the dealer time.
