IM5/IM6 Improvement requests?

Glad I found this thread, I'll be following it closely as trying to decide on my next car and like the IM6 but really do want proper one pedal driving, not sure I could do without it after 4 years with it in the Polestar
That's my gripe too, hope it gets released in an update. I don't know why they don't all have it tbh.

Interesting, what do you find so essential about OPD? I have been driving EV for over 11 years and never really wanted to use it. Just happy to control the regen with my right foot.
Well I always utilised engine braking back when I drove ICE cars so for me it just perfected that experience. I just find it makes for a much more enjoyable driving experience - I do enjoy barely ever touching my brake pedal. 100% agree of course that it should be a config option for those that want it or not

Of course choice is best. I barely touch my bakes now unless I miscalculate and need to stop quickly! I understand that the Chines are intending to ban OPD so that may be why it's not on these cars ATM.

The Chinese are banning OPD being on by default, not banning the manufacturers from having that feature as something you can turn on.
Looks like it's not banned - just not allowed to be the default - from google search:
China is not completely banning one-pedal driving, but from January 1, 2026, it will restrict its use as the default setting in new electric vehicles to improve safety

Yes, that's what I thought I'd said?! Anyway, you are quite right.

Not sure any EVs allow it to be on by default - certainly my Ioniq 5 did not.
Our Polestar 2 can have it on by default. Our Honda e requires enabling every time.

I used to think OPD was brilliant, but it's actually not very efficient. I get better efficiency in both cars by using milder regen and 'lift-and-coast'. Because OPD slows you more than normal regen, you're then spending more energy to get back up to speed, especially after slowing unexpectedly with the brakes.

Not using OPD has had a positive impact on the Honda e, and that's pretty important on a car where even a slightly heavy foot can slash the already abysmal range!

I must admit, I've never seen the point of one pedal driving. What effort is it to simply pivot your right foot from the accelerator to the brake? Surely, relying so much on regen braking will emphasise that one big downside to regeneration - brakes corroding due to not enough use?
Apologies to advocates of OPD, but it's not for me!

Even when using ‘normal’ regen options you need to make sure you use the brakes occasionally to prevent corrosion as unless you need to stop quickly it is still mostly using regen. Not sure if the IMs have any automatic systems to reduce this problem?
