Hi @Miles Roberts CG

I noticed that a beta OTA update has been announced for the IM5/6 is Australia. Is there any news on similar for UK market, yet?
Many thanks

Ian

No announcement for UK as yet. Will update once I hear anything.

Well, I got to say guys, when I got the car temperatures were a bit warmer and on a run I could get around 3.5 ( eco mode, duel carriage, not thrashing it-average 70mph). Since the cold snap I’m averaging 2.4 on short runs around town and 2.9-3.1 on a run.
Short runs in the cold are going to suffer, lots of power to heat the battery etc. on a run an average of 3 isn’t great but as soon as it warms up a bit outside I would be surprised not to hit 3.6+
What we really need is something easy to pre-heat the car whilst plugged in and then the low 2 experience should disappear.
I know you can preheat from the app but the layout is cr*p and it needs refining, that not a car issue its poor implementation from MG. - rant over 🤣😂
I'd kill for 2.4 in my XPOWER, so anything more than 3 is absolutely fine by me.

Hi All,

I've got a meeting this week with the head of IM Motors.

If anyone has any feedback that they'd like to provide? I'm thinking of software bugs, any persistent teething issues, something that we could sort with an OTA in the near future?

I know that IM Motors themselves are on with rolling out a couple of patches soon, but if anyone has anything they'd like me to raise with them, please let me know.

Thanks,
Miles
Hi Miles, not sure if you have seen the most recent post on fb regarding updates? Stating they don't have any plan to release software updates in the UK for IM models?

I'm sure this is contradictory to what has been previously stated? Won't be the first time their staff don't communicate with each other though.

I think this is just another “Fakebook” post ( at least we all hope so). Just another of the many reasons I go nowhere near the site. 🥺

Oh no, they screenshot the email from IM. I've had different info from IM before though too tbh. One person says one thing and someone else says another 🙄

Yes, I've seen that.

The official line is that there are no plans to release OTA in the UK. However, I know that internally they are trialling it. They don't want to quote any specific time periods as to when it will be available though.

That’s shocking Miles, I would hope that MG pull their finger out and actually give all their customers confidence in both MG & IM. The release of this car in the uk requires them to “step up”, if not they risk devaluation of both MG & IM to the point where sales will drop like a stone if the car is not supported properly. The cost of OTA rollout would be a lot less than owners taking cars continually to dealerships for updates ( if they can persuade the dealer to actually do it).
That’s it - rant over, I’m just more than a little disappointed with any concrete progress. It risks changing a good car ( which with OTA updates could be superb) into nothing more than an expensive experiment.

I agree; OTA needs to be a reality in 2026. Done right it will greatly ease the pressure on dealer aervice centres and improve customer experience.

Done wrong it will create chaos, so no doubt they are being very cautious, but it is time to bite the bullet. Getting OTA right cannot just be a theoretical exercise.

My recommendation is they create an early-adopter opt-in programme for customers who both badly want OTA and are prepared to take a risk on update issues.

The early adopter programme is a great idea.
@Miles Roberts CG , if your reading this and have any clout I would be more than happy to enrol with my im6 !

I have an IM6 but still valid I expect:

a. DAB radio is very poor almost always switches to FM and rarely, if ever, switched back. Significantly worse than my Ioniq 5.
b. Please let us have auto dipping headlight!
c. Many want Pet Mode back.
d.The handbook shows a battery heater as being fitted (to enable rapid charging) but there is no info in the manual about how to use it.
e. When are OTA updates coming? How will we know they are available?
f. How will we know when other (dealer required) updates available?
g. Auto dim seems not to work or is sporadic.
h. The manual states that automatic charging of the 12V battery will be temporarily disabled when the high-voltage battery pack is running low. To avoid flat battery, it is recommended to charge the vehicle as soon as possible when the CLTC driving range is less than 70km. Not sure if any of us use CLTC there must be a specific level of SOC when the 12v battery charging is halted - equivalent to a CLTC range of 70km. So what SOC is equivalent to that CLTC range?
i. When you connect the car’s wifi to the network (my home inn this case) it seems to disconnect itself and has to be reenabled every time.
j. auto lock and unlock would be useful - with phone/app in pocket.
k. Remote pull out.
l. Show battery percentage on main screen.
m. Move where the reverse camera video is shown a sit is badly obscured in right hand drive cars.
n. Allow editing of what apps are on the main left hand screen.
Has anyone had an update on their IM5 DAB radio reception? Still ours 'fades' and 'crackles' regularly even when not moving. Very disappointing.

I agree with most but I don't care for auto dip. Doesn't work well in rural Wales. On my last car Prius, the full beam never came on! Had to switch the feature off.
I would like to fully customise the screen - this can't be difficult. I don't want and will never want
Airplay, tiktok YouTube Spotify etc
Ability to run music from usb more easily accessible
Yes radio is awful I just use my phone & BBC sounds

Strangely, my radio is much better now. It still does not automatically switch back to DAB but otherwise is is OK. I think it helps when I added more ‘favourite’ frequencies - I listen to Radio 4 and they broadcast on a variety of different frequencies.

Ok I'll try that but dab is poor here in west Wales - I've got an aerial in the roof for my hifi.
My old Prius was so much better.
It dropped out occasionally but not as bad as the MG

FM on my radio is ok but DAB is poor and flips back to FM most of the time. DAB reception in my area is very good so I assume it’s the aerial in the car - perhaps not well sighted ? - it does seem to be a problem with a lot of IM’s

My DAB is a lot better than it used to be. Hard to compare to my previous car as it switched automatically between FM and DAB and back again so never really paid attention to what it was tuned into.

Hi @Miles Roberts CG

One thing that find frustrating is the lack of info about how much charge etc
As I can see there is no record kept on the car or app.
My old Prius had mountains of data - hour by hour of consumption etc.
It could store daily/weekly/monthly & all time records of charges. Add this to miles covered & the efficiency could be displayed too.
I know home chargers could do this but that won't include on the road charging....
