I contacted the MG Aftersales Customer Experience Centre to determine if a battery issue was under warranty. They replied - the car undergoes an investigation by the technician and the results go to the warranty team who then come back to the dealership and advise whether the fault would or would not be covered.
Why won't they define what the warranty covers and what is not covered. There is no value in a warranty which is totally under their control and authority. To add insult to injury there may be an initial diagnostic charge of £140.00

They do that in their Warranty Statement.

I wonder why the MG Aftersales Customer Experience Centre didn't come back to me with a link to the warranty and clarification of what is covered in respect to the battery. Their answer implies there is an element of subjectivity in their decisions. They do nothing to restore my confidence in the MG experience.

I think a Dealer would prefer a warranty rejection to come from MG Customer Services, rather from them as an MG Dealer.

Remember, MGUK is not above the law, you have rights as a consumer and no matter what MG would prefer or what they put in writing, if the item is faulty and that item should be expected to last longer than it has you can take them to court.
I've done it twice, once with Ford and once with Renault and won every time. Dont believe what they them you, don't mess about, slap them hard straight away.
