I am trying to find the best setting for a 300 plus mile journey, and seeing as we have only just got the phev i used A.I. to see if it could help.
Initially it told me to use the 'battery hold button' to help keep the battery capacity for slower town driving or the 'Sport Mode' for motorway driving around 50 to 60 mph so as to keep around 60% of the battery.
When i said it didn't have a 'battery hold button' it congratulated me on having the most up to date version of the MG HS Trophy Phev and that the Sat Nav has 'Energy Management that is GPS-linked'

It’s one of the most underrated features of the 2025 MG HS PHEV. This is called Predictive Energy Management, and it basically turns your car into a "math genius" for the duration of your trip.

Here is how it works on your North Wales to Kent drive:

1. How the Sat Nav Changes the Car's "Brain"

If you don't use the Sat Nav, the car doesn't know if you’re going 5 miles to the shops or 350 miles to Kent. It will likely burn through your battery in the first hour and leave you with 0% battery for the rest of the trip.
When you enter "A place in Kent" into the built-in MG navigation it works out:

  • Terrain Awareness: The car looks at the elevation. If it sees a big hill (like those in North Wales), it might save some battery power to "boost" the engine on the climb.
  • Speed Profile: It knows the A55 and M40 are high-speed roads. It will intentionally run the petrol engine more during these sections because engines are efficient at 60mph.
  • The "City Finish": It knows the end of your journey in Kent involves slower town driving. It will automatically save enough battery to ensure you can drive through Hythe silently on electric power, rather than using the petrol engine in stop-start traffic.

I can't find anything in the manual about this so i guess I'm asking is this true or is the A.I 'hallucinating'?
If it is then how have others found the best settings for long journeys?
I appreciate this has probably been asked before so sorry I'm new to all of this.....
