Keyless door locking

Why does the mg5 not automatically lock the doors when you walk away from the car. I know it's possible as if you unlock the car with the remote the car will auto lock after 20 secs?

It doesn't do it because it's not designed to operate that way.

The Zoe and the Clio does have this feature.
They have a credit card style key.
You enter the car and push the start button.
When you remove the key from the car and walk away, it then quickly becomes out of range of the car, and therefore it will then automatically lock the doors, because the signal is lost.
The MG does not have this tech built into either the car or the key.
Not keen on them large black cards to be honest ?.

My previous car had auto-locking and I once left the missus sitting in the car on a hot day while I just "popped" into the Vx dealership. Unfortunately my conversation took much longer than anticipated and she didn't know there was an unlock button in the car so was literally nearly fainting by the time I came out.
