The Low Emission Zones in major French cities have been scrapped, meaning the Crit Air stickers denoting the levels of pollution cars/ vans etc have, no longer apply and we are back to a free for all.
Consequently the uptake of EVs will most likely reduce as many of the grants/subsidies for EVs were linked to the LEZs and their expansion and will either disappear or drastically reduce in value thus devaluing EVs with the borderline buyers who thought that they could be a good idea apart from their long distance journeys for their annual hols.
How this affects the expansion of the charging network is anyone's guess , ask the bean counters.
Perhaps to reinvigorate the EV uptake maybe the tariffs on Chinese EVs could be reduced although Renault, Citroen and Peugeot might have something to say on that.
LEZs where always a contentious / divisive issue, as they are in the UK although the intentions were honorable it was always seen as a stick to beat the poor and disadvantaged, always a good tool for political opponents.
Still , a good use for all those unused Covid facemasks you have stashed in the back of a cupboard , should you wish to visit.
Politics hey!!!
