All the best cars I've driven have had their rear wheels powered.

Don't panic! There will still be choices. It will look like the ICE car market where FWD dominates but there are still RWD cars to own and enjoy (and 4WD).

I think it's a 61kWh battery giving a range of about 275.

Agree it's not much of a looker, no doubt will be a decent car but the Renault 5, new Polo and Raval look better looking cars

In fact, it's bloody ugly.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, I quite like the look of the EV2 although I don't like the EV3 as much which looks very similar.
The boxiness gives it lots of internal room.

True, but the general consensus is that their cars look ugly. Now that must hurt sales for a significant percentage of the market.

Designers often get carried away (eg Bangle-era BMWs or the more recent huge-goatee BMWs) and reduce a brand's potential sales.

People who don't care about car looks are not going to be put off by a pretty car.
