I've used RAC for decades, but it looks as if the MG Assist gives the same cover, so I'm thinking of ditching the RAC. Reasonable, or is there a good reason to continue with the RAC?

MG Assist is effectively the full bhoona AA cover (at a car rather than personal level), so includes roadside, relay and home start. You'd normally pay over £100 for that level of cover. The only reason to get additional/alternative cover is if you often drive several different vehicles and so want personal cover.

As said AA assist is all singing all dancing cover. And it's free, presuming you get your MG serviced at MG. So why pay for RAC cover. 🙂👍

It's definitely the same or better. 🙂👍

Interesting thread. As an owner based in NI I had questioned MG Assist coverage if and when I was in Southern Ireland ( frequently, it's just down the road) and got the answer it only covers the UK. does not extend to European countries. Now I have full European coverage Also with the AA who provide MG Assist coverage through a separate policy which comes through my Nationwide account (Flexplus) so I'm more than happy with MG Assist with the backup.
