MG IM6 Service Plan Pricing

Yep, had it a month now. Didn’t purchase from my local dealer as I got a better price from the dealership in Leeds. When you ask MG for an online quote you have to put your local dealer in the system - perhaps that is what drives the quote.
That is frustrating as I thought the reason it would not quote me as the car is not registered yet! Have you tried phoning them?

I’ve been in to my local dealership, that’s where I got the quote from. They told me quotes are generated by the dealer and once taken out you have to go that nominated dealer for service (I.e you can’t transfer or go to another MG dealer).
It’s a strange system, all the other new cars I have purchased have had a manufacturer available service contract which could then be carried out at any dealership. Non contractual prices varied for work done but manufacturer service contracts remained the same whichever dealer you went to !

Agree. The web page does suggest otherwise 'Choose from 180 dealers located across the UK.’.

Yes it’s a little ambiguous ( if the customer services manageress in my local dealership is correct), I think she would argue that you can indeed choose from the list, but it fails to mention that the service agreement is with the chosen dealer, ( it would be good if another owner could ask the question at their dealership to see if they concur).

I will ask my dealer on MOn. Strangely, they were trying to use the MG site and it worked for the IM5!

If it's anything like the mg4 servicing the prices can vary greatly from dealer to dealer, as you mentioned best to shop around
Makes sense if it’s a “one off purchase” but I would assumed service agreements from dealers would all be priced the same ( and usable at other MG dealers).

Yep, you’re right Len. I think MG have shot themselves in the foot with this business model. When I’ve calmed down a bit I’ll go back in and talk to the service manager at my local branch to see what we can do. But if I do take a plan ( which I’m not that sure about) I sure won’t be paying the management or facility fees.

Whilst I have not done it with IM6 yet, I've changed branches I've serviced my previous 2 ZS EVs in the past. So MG 100% let's you service anywhere. The only difference I could think of is that IM is their step child, but I can't believe it'll make a difference.
