MG Motor Castres Groupe Peyrot - MG Dealer Discussion, Opinions & Experiences

In October 2025, my wife and I traveled from Portugal to France for a vacation and at the same time to buy an MG4 and drive it back home.

This was our first experience choosing and purchasing a car. We prepared for it by reading this forum and consulting ChatGPT.

We selected several car options and dealers in France, but not all of them responded to private messages or emails, including Group Peyrot Castres. Because of that, we visited some dealers without prior notice.

We eventually chose a used car that was being sold by Group Peyrot Castres. Of course, we faced a language barrier. The salesperson did not speak English, and we do not speak French. Nevertheless, we managed to clarify some information about the car and the purchase process. We were told that Group Peyrot Castres could not provide the service history of the vehicle, as all information is stored electronically and not directly accessible to customers. I had seen similar comments from other MG4 owners online, so I was prepared for the idea that the full service history would only be available during a scheduled maintenance visit.

After the purchase, during a scheduled service in Portugal at around 24,000 km (it’s worth noting that the next service was actually due at 3 years, but we ended up doing it earlier), we were informed that the previous service records had not been entered into the central MG database. This also includes the pre-sale service performed by the dealer. However, the overall condition of the car is good, and the battery State of Health is at an expected level for a 3-year-old vehicle.

At this point, it remains unclear whether the previous owner serviced the car at official MG service centers and the records were simply not uploaded, or if the services were not performed at all. The same question applies to Group Peyrot Castres — it is unclear why the pre-sale service was not recorded in the system. We have tried to contact them, but so far have not received any response.

That’s our unfortunate experience.

I would appreciate any advice.
 
I bought mine new from the Peyrot group ( Brive ) . Despite having two services done at the premises , they also will not allow me access to the electronic MG service record . All I have are the receipts , but no other written confirmation or the service book being filled and stamped. Contacting MG Europe , they say , contact your dealer and also will not confirm or deny the contents or existence of the electronic record. Trying to find information as to the location and contact details of the Peyrot head office is also nigh impossible, you are just redirected to your local branch , with which you have the issue. The group also have an electronic contact page which is never answered, there might be an automatic acknowledgment message but it will never go any further.
I share your pain , but at least have a couple of receipts.
