I have a guess:
I tried today, the „Hello MG“ Commamd only works when the MG is online. So maybe this is the reason that some MGs have no Troubles. If „Hello MG“ is turned on, the Command was sent so the fault Server and the MG got a Bad Response. When it is turned off, the fault Server was not contacted…

I don't think I have hello MG on my SE. At least it never does anything if I say "hello mg" never found a toggle for it either.

There still seems to be a lingering belief that this had to do with an update.

I don't think that's right at all. An AWS server went down, meaning that our cars couldn't contact mothership. It would seem that that is enough to cripple them, because they go into some kind of loop or limp mode if they can't communicate with the servers.

That is appalling programming, and that is what needs to be fixed, and the lesson to be learned.

We, as users, also have a lesson to learn, which is that if these symptoms appear, we should simply switch off data.

It is a shame that the early, apparently wrong, diagnosis of a failed OTA is perseverating.
If there was an outage to a major AWS service I suspect there would have been more widespread effects and definitely more publicity. The organisation I work at relies heavily upon AWS and we didn't have any issues over the weekend. Not ruling it out, I'm just leaning more towards an intentional change to some MG API or backend service that broke it. Their developers need to subscribe to the concept of "read only Fridays" - no pushes to prod before a weekend!

Had the same issue... and basically had to factory reset the entire infotainment system. That fixed it. It was impacting the cameras, main infotainment screen and all functions. Such a safety issue!

I think that the trend is in the opposite direction. The concept of data sovereignty is being brought to the fore by the actions of Google who, under the instructions of the Trump regime, disconnected a judge in the Hague with whom MAGA disagrees.

As a result many European countries either are in the process of, or have, banned the use of American comms companies, such as Google, Zoom and Microsoft, from government use, because they have realised that, should they wish, the American government can simply switch off their means of communications.

I would imagine that the Chinese state is considering similar moves, if they haven't already enacted them.

Having said that, there are rules in Europe about where personal data can be stored, and I would imagine that MG have to appear to abide by those rules as well (though my confidence in them doing it for real is very low.)

Australian S5 owner here. Yes we had the exact same issue in these parts, but now almost all seems back to normal, with the exception of Siri. I can no longer long-hold the "speak" button to summon her, despite the fact my phone is connected to CarPlay. Anybody else have this issue?

After only having the car for a few days the Radio kept switching from DAB to FM on its own. Station stayed on DAB but screen showed FM Radio 2. However since last weekends data faults my S5 has been great since and Radio staying on DAB?? Coincidence or has something been done?
