Reading a few posts this morning, users are of the opinion that Over the Air software updates have not been implemented, & that maybe, the 'software is up to date' message can't be trusted.
It also appears that some user-interfaces may operate differently to others.

So I thought I'd post my software versions here, and if yours is newer, please add to thread;

Looks like we are all using the same versions, so far!
I'm still not sure if there should be other software listed: e.g. does the User Interface software have its own version, or is this all included in the TBOX package?

No MG EVs yet have over-the-air software updates in the UK. Trials start in the spring, initially with IM5&6 and then other models like the MGS5 later in the year.

Exactly the same software version as mine @Deleted member 24339 and all the others, including Portugal!

If you don't know these things, & can't find the answer elsewhere, you either ask the question or stay silent. I've never had a problem being the one person in the room that puts my hand up.

I thought I'd seen talk of an R27 version, but maybe that's associated with another model.

Software updates are like playing poker, or maybe Blackjack.

My car works.

My experience with Microsoft, Apple, Adobe etc is that after a software update there is a range of possible outcomes on a spectrum between brick and marginal improvement, with the average being marginal degradation.

All three of those companies is shit at software, but still a million times better than MG.

I would be very, very wary of software upgrade, as the risk/return strikes me as heavily in favour of risk.

I lead a team of developers. That's my bread and butter.

I take a very different view point. I think over the air updates are the thing that is going to make huge changes to the motor industry.

Traditionally having to go back to the dealer to get software updates is expensive and time consuming and is often fixing issues that just shouldn't be there.

My mobile phone works but it works better every time it gets an update. If we took the view point above and never updated it I would need to buy a new one sooner.

The concept that Microsoft, Apple and Adobe are not good at software is for the birds The reality is software and hardware are forever getting more and more complex and like anything not everything goes to plan. And thats why currently my auto headlights defo don't work as I would expect

The latest versions of Windows and MacOs are huge improvements on previous versions. I just don't get where the concept of them being bad at software comes from or who in comparison does it better. Try installing Linux and see how you get on

Bricking hardware due to bad software updates is obviously something we have seen but its an extreme event. So extreme its never happened to me. Its something I read about.

Well your first problem is there is no such thing as IOS26

60% of my daily work is now being done by AI and I have put off hiring the two extra developers I had penciled in for 2026 thanks to it. So you might not like AI but it is making jobs easier and making people more productive. We use Copilot and Amazon Q extensively.

The majority of improvements you will see in OS will be stuff you will never notice. Its things like security and performance improvements. The memory and cpu requirements of your basic apps are going up and up all the time and this needs managing by the hardware and software. Next time you are on your computer have a look how much memory a single tab in google chrome is using. Most websites are now mini apps and require a lot of management for example. And most people will have multiple tabs on the go and expecting it all to "just work".

You take a photo with your IOS 18 phone and wonder why you bothered to upgrade because you could take a photo "just fine" in IOS16. But the amount of pre and post processing that is going on compared to the two versions is going to be vastly different. You will probably notice a bit nicer photo. But the guy next to you is using the new AI features to then remove people from the image etc.... and all thats provided by the OS / Developers etc. And its complex and requires meaty software and hardware. The power and complex software needed for AI features is beyond stuff most people could understand. Its blows my mind sometimes and its my bread and butter lol.

I use ChatGPT extensively. I am a huge fan. It writes software for me, it writes seminar and video scripts for me, I am assisting in the production of a fantastic new online aviation tool written around it, it even writes limericks for me (not very well, I can do better).

I am a fan of AI, if and when I want to use it.

But if I want to just produce a PPT or Word Doc without it, it keeps jumping out of the woodwork and forcing its attention on me. It is a useful tool, not the boss of me. I spend far too much time telling it to just fudge off and leave me alone.

Yeah I feel you here. There is a push to put AI into everything.
