Looking at the MG3 Hybrid Service Manual, it specifies C5 SP 0W-20 grade synthetic oil. This is clearly what the car is delivered with. It is also what Toyota Hybrids are shipped with.

I do understand and respect the official guidelines mentioning 0W 20 oil, but I was wondering if anyone has any experience with such motors in places with really high temperatures during the summer? I live in Greece, were nowadays its expected to have like 35-45C during the summer (95-113F) where 20W 40 is the most common oil used.

Again, I'm not arguing, I'm just wondering - since the manufacturer recommends what's the best, but that doesn't mean its the best for every situation/temperature/etc.

OMG 35-45C, I feel for you. To keep your warranty valid you have to use what MG recommends.

As I understand it this very thin oil is to give less resistance to the engine's moving parts to get maximum efficiency and it will also to help with cold and continual restarting.
