I have had my MG3 Hybrid + Trophy for almost 9 months now, I have been very pleased with it apart from some issues with settings and would like to know if any other owners suffer like myself from not being able to turn off the annoying alerts especially ‘Your Are Over The Speed Limit’.

I appreciate that like other vehicles you need to turn this off each time that you start it, not a problem but it keeps turning its self back on like other settings, these not so annoying.

Is there a setting to increase the tolerance level i.e. plus 2 mph before it alerts?

The current MPH Limit Indicator on the main dashboard will jump from 30mph up to 80mph while still in the 30mph area and will not change back until the sensor picks up a new Speed Limit sign but the 30mph Alert remains the same.

2 weeks ago after changing my MG Main Dealership to one more local to me, the vehicle was booked into a to have these issues resolved, it came back being no different and I was told “It’s Just The Way It Is” not really what I wanted to hear. not wishing to appear being rude but I have to ask the question do they really know how to resolve these issues and problems?

During the same booking they installed the “New Worldwide Transmission Software Update” so yes now at the slightest incline the “Engine Rev’s Its Heart Out” I went back to the dealership the following day and was told “It Is A Characteristic of the Vehicle” I think not!

When I asked if damaged could be caused to the engine (I think that it could) and if so who would be held responsible, MG ? I received a “Shrugging Of The Shoulders” so who knows?

I would appreciate comments to any of my above issues please.

Hi Martinn
my MG3 Trophy mph indicator also jumps from 30 mph to 80 mph on one particular road near to where I live but not on other 30 mph roads I put it down to the dirt on the road sign confusing it

Two possible places you may get the speed warnings that annoy you. One is if you select via the steering buttons to view the various displays on the screen in front of you, you can move sideways to find tyre pressures, and also a screen that shows the distance to next service, and also an overspeed threshold. Either raise that (I keep mine at 80mph) or turn it off. Also in the main settings screen on the central screen there is a setting for overspeed. You can turn this off. I can't remember if its on the main settings screen, or if you go into sat nav settings, but I'm sure someone will be more accurate!
