I hit a deer in my MG4, and since then have been told that the front radar is misaligned as both cruise control and ABS breaking aren't working, also the grill is broken. I have to pay the first £550 with my car insurance, but I think I am going to have to go with it as have been told that it is an expensive job to replace all of that and recalibrate. I have tried a couple of local repairers in North Devon and they are unable to do it anyway, so think it needs an MG garage. Any advice? Is it worth going through insurance? I'm sure the bill will come to a lot more than £550. Many thanks (January 2026)

Google AI says it is a specialist job using specialised equipment and performed by a specialised technician ...... That doesn't sound like many of the MG dealership that's been mentioned here :ROFLMAO:
Google goes on to say
a certified ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) calibration specialist. It is not a do-it-yourself (DIY) task.

So, maybe try to track one of those down, ask how much it would be to realign a unit if you could get one, and judge whether it's worth the $550 to just let the crash repairer do all the hard work and you have a repair that should be guaranteed to be correct

If there are any painted bits that need replacing then I imagine the colour matching alone would make it worth letting a pro do it. I’d take the insurance hit and get it done proper.

Shame you didn’t get the rego on that deer, their Australia cousins are also always uninsured and do a runner… or more of a hop I suppose.

ABS braking has nothing to do with the front radar, it has a sensor on each wheel to detect when a wheel has locked up.
