One of my prior EV's was a Nissian Leaf with its ProPilot lane keeping system. After just a few motorway drives of the MGS5 I could not help but notice how similar the "keep one hand on the wheel" detection felt to the Leaf - so similar I wonder if the detection is the same internal switch. Which had me wondering . . . would this old hack from the Leaf would work in the MGS5 with its Intelligent Cruise Assist (ICA). Answer below the video-
The answer is YES . . yes it does . . it takes just over 400 grams!
And before I get the agro . .yes, this is dangerous and yes, if you're going to do this you really should turn back on all those annoying NCAP warnings we all turn off AND set the follow distance to 3 car lengths AND actually keep your eyes on the road . . . but still . . ,
