Hey all,

Long time reader and first time poster here. Proud owner for about 1.5 months, and feel that this car is so underrated. Im comparing it BYDs, Jaecoos/Omoda and Xpeng. It feels that this MGS5 is legit a driver's car. So much appreciation for the physical buttons as opposed to using the touch screen/voice control, how lush the interior is for the price range, how turns and corners feel somewhat tight and secure. I took the beige interior with the sun roof, and loving the aesthetics!

Just wished for automatic controls on the passenger seat :)

What are your thoughts?

I agree with most of what you say but in the UK we don't have the option of a sunroof or beige interior. The handling is good for a SUV although a little choppy at slow speed on uneven road surfaces.

Oops. i guess its a regulation thing?
It may be underrated in Singapore but it has received nothing but glowing reviews in the UK.
Thats good to hear. A large part of the decisiom process was scouring through reviews - lots in the UK and Australia.

Yeah it doesnt come with a sunroof option in Norway either. Im guessing its a European thing?

I love mine and enjoy driving it we have a small BYD in the household also which is great but I agree it's very underrated good range comfortable and use buttons when driving for the money its a brillent and enjoyable car.

If you call it is "underrated" in SG, then I have no word to describe how bad the Sales it is in China mainland.
I just bought one last month and it only costs me about 8,750 GBP ( with tax & insurance), including sun roof, power Seats (both driver & passenger sides), power liftgate and a 2K 15.4 touch screen.

Still, very few people buys it even with such a low price.

In Singapore, Teslas and BYDs make the majority of EVs. I see more Xpengs, Omodas, Jaecoos and Aions than the MGS5. Quite a decent number of MG4s, MG5s though. I guess the competition for that SUV class is crazy here. We are getting aggressive trade-in values, charging vouchers and others by different dealers.

Same in Ireland. Very competitively priced, but only about 120 registered so far. There might be a big push coming in January 26 (or not).

Just picked mine up today!!!!!!
I'd agree with others who posted here - it's gone down well in the UK, and there are pretty much rave reviews all over YouTube.....

I parked next to one today in a multi story I live in a village of about 200 homes there are two of us MGS5 in real happy with mine

Feels great so far! Few quirks to iron out, but it's been a fabulous first day....despite the worst rain I can remember for some considerable time!!

I'd like to know the battery configuration. In the Australia released version, they have a 49kwh and 62kwh LFP battery on offer, and the specs say only 47kwh of the 49kwh advertised are available ..... so it's only a 47kwh battery in reality .... in a car bigger yet no heavier than an MG4.
I also don't understand the logic of only offering the 125kw rear motor option .....
I'm mystified how they reduced the kwh/100km from 18.4 down to 16.6kwh/100km, yet it is a bigger vehicle all round.
The combined cycle is guestimated at 340kms, the MG4 is guestimated at 350kms, we get around 320kms, so does the MGS5 only get a real 310kms to a charge?

They have improved the charge acceptance rate on the DC fast chargers, that is a real plus, the bigger boot and the extra 250kg towing capacity

I'd love to put the 62kwh battery in my MG4 51, that in reality has about 45kwh capacity from new .... but that another story completely.

It's a pity you can only get the Essence 62 goodies with that sun roof ...... fine for countries that don't have the high sun intensity we do here in Australia

Certainly a nice looking package all round, now which one of the 16 vehicle should I use for a trade in :eek: Like I'd part with any of them
