Missing type 2 cable?

Hi all,

I just took delivery of my MG HS PHEV yesterday. All ok so far. However, it has not been supplied with a type 2 to type 2 charging cable, only a type 2 to 3-pin. I’ve called today and someone is supposed to be calling back, but I was just checking there should have been a cable and it wasn’t an additional extra that no one tried to sell me (like the locking nut!)

Only comes with granny charger a type2 you pay extra and cheaper to get one from EV just look up website.

I looked into it and decided for me it wasn't worth it.
The car will only charge at around 3.6kwph, so if you arrive at a charging point with zero charge, it would take 4/5 hours to charge it up.
As the cables cost around £150 and I only have access to a free works charger 1 day a week I reckon I'd get my money back after 2 years and it was easier to just just fuel if the battery went flat. If you are on a long journey the EV is only good for traffic jams and very slow speeds, anything more than that and the 32 miles range sharp disappears.

The way I use the car is that if I know it's a short local journey, I use EV, if it's going to be a long distance, I use fuel and the EV chips in for slow speeds snarl ups to make the fuel last longer. On my return home I hit EV when the range is less than the distance home and I aim to arrive home with zero charge.

You don't get one with the car and the MG one is about £300, Amazon has the cheaper if you want one or already have a home charge point. Apart from that the granny charger is all you need.

Home plug will chuck out about 2 to 3 kwph depending on your house and the car only takes a max of 3.6kwph, so you get little benefit from a 2 to 2 type charging cable.

I got one for £100 and like now when away I find a free charge and top up will save some petroll.

I got one free with the car! (I never used it tho) I also got trunkmatt for free.

Mine is a lease and it did some with one. They just weren’t in stock. I’ve got one now free of charge. Full charge cost me £3.72 at a pod point

Minor point .. 3 pin charger works at 10 amps, so 2.3Kw max. I've got a Type 2 lead, the difference is about 1.5 hrs quicker using the 3.6w on-board unit.

The advantage of Type 2 leads is that they are available at public charging locations whereas domestic sockets typically are not.
