There are many patronising little warnings our cars give us, and luckily many can be switched off, but somehow the one that really gets under my skin, and makes me want to book a ticket to Ningde and punch the designer on the nose, is the one that tells me to straighten the steering wheel before driving.

I don't know how I got through the first 50 years of my driving career without driving into a tree.

So what is your most highly ranked patronising warning?

I don't seem to get annoyed by anything at the moment in our new EV; even other drivers! I'm finding the driving experience very relaxing (maybe that will change).
The nice lady that tells me the speed limit is fine, I need to be reminded, but I have turned her volume down to more of a whisper than a shout.
I'm fascinated by the coffee cup graphic when the car thinks I'm fatigued & need to take a break. And also the one that thinks I'm not concentrating. Both of these only seem to occur when I'm wearing my 'Dirty Harry' sunglasses!

It does annoy me also on the MG4 , but , there could possibly, maybe, a technical reason for it. It may (no evidence what so ever ) want to do a pre-driving steering angle check/ confirmation for the software. ? before setting off. ......... it would then be guilty free and blame the camera / AEB when you drive into that tree.

For me it's the 'hold the steering wheel' one when I am holding the wheel and yet there are times when I'm not and it is quite happy to carry on. As for the straighten the wheel one I wonder if it is part of the LKA software initialisation checks.
