I’ve been driving a 2025 MG3 Comfort as a loaner recently. After putting about 300km on the clock, I wanted to share some thoughts on how it stacks up—especially compared to my MG4.
The Good
- Improved Software: The UI design and responsiveness feel like a step up from the MG4. I particularly appreciate the auto-dimming driver display; it’s a small detail that makes a big difference at night.
- Build & Interior: The quality is impressive for this segment. The seats actually feel better in terms of quality than those in my MG4, and the faux leather on the dashboard adds a nice premium touch.
- Driving: The ride quality is very smooth. I also prefer the seating position here; you can sit a bit lower than in the MG4, which feels more planted.
- The Engine: It’s refreshing to see a 116hp 4-cylinder na engine instead of a tiny 1L 3-cylinder turbo with a "wet belt" (oil-bathed belt).
- Transmission: The 5-speed gearbox feels nice.
- Efficiency: On a 270km Autobahn drive (average speed >85km/h), I averaged 5.7L/100km, which is quite respectable.
- Value: For the price point, the overall package is incredibly strong.
The Not-So-Good
- Gearing: The car is in desperate need of a 6th gear.
- NVH (Noise, Vibration, Harshness): It gets very loud at Autobahn speeds. Personally, I wouldn't want to drive it faster than 120–130km/h on longer trips due to the cabin noise.
- Sound System: Even with the "better" 6-speaker setup, the audio is just okay. There’s no bass, and the mids and highs tend to bleed together.
