Picked up my new HS Trophy Hybrid+ last week and when I got it home and went to have a closer look at the Naviscreen settings and the language had changed to Chinese.

Not being familiar with the layout I was stuck so called the dealer who’d never heard of this happening, the language setting option (on the same screen as the brightness setting) still said English so he suggested factory reset, this was greyed out so he said he’d get a tech to call me back.

Meanwhile, I used the translate app on my iPhone to translate the headings and after restarting the screen the factory reset was now accessible, so did that and problem solved.

However, 2 days later it happened again, this time I went straight to the language setting which still said English, changed it to French then back to English and it sorted it.

Now however as a result of the factory reset (I think) I’ve lost ultrasonic sensors front and back and no distance colour grading on reverse camera, so I assume that’s a Trophy software upgrade. Hopefully a visit to the dealer will resolve it but thought I’d post in case anyone has had similar happen to them.

I had a similar situation on my old MG5 when a factory reset was done on the infotainment unit.
You make an assumption that this will return the system to where it was when you first picked up the car but in reality it took it to an earlier point and the dealer couldn't return it to where it previously was.
Moral of the story is think long and hard before you do a factory reset if you are not 100% certain what the effect will be.

Cheers Alb, did it at the dealers request but it had unintended consequences, anyhow it’s booked in for next week to see why the parking radar button won’t stay on so 🤞

Had the same happen to me, picked up the car from the dealership on Thursday after trading in my mg3 hybrid.
On Friday evening got in the car and the display had changed to Chinese, left it overnight and went to sort it out on Saturday morning and it had changed back to English?

Mine was in Chinese when I switched it on this morning. Here are the steps required to get it back:

From Home Screen
Slide left
Select settings (Gear symbol)
Select third line down
Select Francais
Select English

I found that just trying to select English didn’t work but selecting Francais and then English it worked fine.
Hope this helps someone in the future.

hey, this did not work for my MG HS Hybrid+ 2026 but i used google lens translate, go to gear symbol then open google lens and point it at the menu, it will detect Chinese then offer to translate to English in real time, just locate the language button and scroll down to English and accept changes, it tooK about 60 seconds and saved a trip to the garage, i hope that helps!

I just found this on AliExpress: | 2in1 Wireless CarPlay Dongle Wireless Android Auto Adapter AI Smart Box Car Intelligent Systems For Car With Wired CarPlay

Ours has gone into Chinese 3 times since bought new in September- Peds8045 explanation is what we did and it works…..it shows English despite displaying Chinese so choosing any other language works then switch back to English.
Hoping there is a software update when it has a service this year.
