It's OK to say you like the look of a car, regardless of power train, try not to feel guilty about it.

Now here's a funny thing... I know it may not really fully make sense, but the look of the car needs to appeal to me before I can literally buy into it.

But then you have to ask yourself, well, I really love the way that car looks, but it doesn't offer exactly what I need.

Do you make compromises?

I mean, take an MGA soft top as an extreme example...cracking little car with bags of style but no room for more than one passenger and luggage space is tight. It wouldn't be practical for most of us. Desirable yes, but not practical.

Spinning things around, imagine you are choosing your next car. Everything is perfect, just as you would want it, except you absolutely hate the way the car looks. The range is good, the space is vast, the thing is comfortable, it drives well, but it just offends your eye.

Now, in reality most vehicles are not at these extremes, but somewhere in-between.

The way a car looks is obviously subjective so one person's beautiful is another's ugly.

How much do you value the car's appearance?

I hated the previous Konas.

I like the front end of the current Kona, but the back end still rankles with the rear light clusters bulging out oddly.

Whilst it is nice to have a car that is a looker, unfortunately the looks are for other peoples benefit. As the owner my time is spent inside.

Which curiously brings me to steam trains. I have spent my money to travel on heritage steam trains before but I seriously wonder why. The whole beauty is watching them go by (for free) and not sitting in some uncomfortable old passenger carriage behind one watching people wave at you.

I always had a soft spot for the Fiat Multipla . But I'm weird.

Weren't they wonderfully practical!

We had the choice of Multipla or FRV because we wanted a 3+3 layout.

We went for the Japanese option.

Well I have it all ways of course, driving as I do the inimitable e-Berlingo XTR. It’s the car everyone aspires to even when they don’t admit it. Sheer perfection in every way. Go on, try to find a fault, it’s the best thing out on the roads. Just watch the next one fly by during your next drive - jealousy will be your overriding emotion. You may try to ignore it but deep down - you know.

I went to a Quaker boarding school.

I wholeheartedly thank the teachers for letting us watch NTNOCN. Some didn't know what it was, others knew, but turned a blind eye and let us watch it anyway.

The common room was always stuffed to the gills when it was on.

No it’s economy figure remains at 3.2 mpk in the current cold weather and up to 3.7 later. Three times in the last couple of months I’ve carried ten sacks of (different ) logs for a friend. They’re a wee bit of a squeeze when the two electric bikes are no board but we gave another person a lift and it didn’t affect the car at all.
Really bad news yesterday- I got a letter from a Welsh address demanding £195 if I want to drive it beyond the 28th of February. Is Cyfeiriad Dychwelyd, Abertawe a valid location to send good Scots money? That’s going to seriously undermine Berlingo’s economy and make this ancient laddie very sad

You might need to check your porridge oats for mould spores ? they could give possible hallucinogenic effects?
