The link says 22,000 British pound, that is the equivalent of $45,325 AUD, the MG4 only cost me $30,000 AUD, full on road ...... I don't get it, what advantage would it have over the MG4 51Ah LFP battery poverty pack model? They are offering the MG XPower for $50,000 at the moment ...... I know which I'd buy, built in vibrator and all

Could well be wrong, but I suspect that the R5 will get a semi-cult following like the new Mini simply due to the popularity of the original version, esp. appealing to us oldies, even if simply as a 2nd vehicle. From what I've seen (on screen, haven't seen one in real life) it looks like the new R5 has got the right proportions even if it is - presumably - much bigger than the original one.

For MG to pull a similar trick with the MG2 then, IMHO, they'd need to model it on an MGB or Midget!

In the article they give the example of Italy, where smaller cars are desirable for the medieval cities.

In European cities fitting into tight parking spots (and gaps in the road) is a major factor.

Plus some drivers aren't very confident and prefer a smaller car.

But yes, given our commuter town/suburb environment we went for the MG4 over the similarly priced E-208 because you get more car for your money.

Yes, Renault have played a blinder I think.

They gave a team of designers/engineers a couple of old 5's and a brief to create a modern electric one.

It is a completely different size (much bigger) but still retains the looks somehow.

MG could try to the same thing with an MG Metro if they want to go down the 80s retro route but I think they will just make a smaller version of the MG4.

probably a wise move.. the Metro looked fugly back then compared to the R5 / mini / Fiat 500

The front will be soft and not as sharp as the MG4. saying that they could do something snazzy with the rear and front lights. Give it some funky 15/16 inch wheels. Keep some buttons in the cabin and not rely heavily on the PAD or screens. The proportions could still change. Maybe the retro futuristic box shape is played out now so going back to curves might be the way
