Wondering if anyone has changed their tryes on MGS5 yet, the ones fitted are terrible, i have a vibration which has been on going since new and as the dealer (Arnold Shark) won't replace them so we can rule them out They have been balanced (allegedly) although not convinced so, i have decided to change them myself. Looking for a dedicated EV all season tyre with good economy, low noise.

I am assuming you have the Bridgestone tyres fitted from the factory then ?.
One member HAS already switched out the factory tyres 🛞 to Michelin Cross Climates instead.
He reported that the new tyres, produce a LOT less road noise than the Bridgestones, and that the car now is pretty much silent.
Personally, I was disappointed to see that the S5 had Bridgestones fitted from the factory myself.
I have experienced Bridgestones on one of our previous cars and I absolutely hated them with a passion.
The traction was poor and they produce a lot of road noise and drone, compared to the Good Years I replaced them with.
The noise level and poor traction will only get worse as they wear down also.
The difference between the tyres, was night and day tbh.
I do find that when you are cruising at about 56Mph in the S5, there is a presents of a dull “drone” in the cabin on these Bridgestone’s.
It was the same noise we had on our previous car.
Honestly, I think you have made the correct decision to switch them out.
Not really what you want to do on a car that is almost brand new, but otherwise you are going to be stuck with the problem for the next 20,000+ thousand miles
( depending on your driving style etc ).
If you only cover average miles / year, you are going to be stuck with them far TOO long.
I have to say, that I have seriously contemplated switching mine out also.
I am puzzled why a manufacturer would fit these tyres 🛞 to an EV ??.
In a ICE car there are other back ground noises that can disguise some tyre noise, but not in an EV !.
It just depends on what deal the manufacturer can get on a huge batch of tyres really, simply down to cost !.
If another tyre company offers them a better deal, then they will switch in a heart beat.
If you do go ahead and switch them out, please let us know what you went for and how do the new tyres compare to the original Bridgestone tyres 👍.

Yes, Bridgestones...Bloody awful tyres. I also get the droning/whinning noise and annoying low level vibration, all told its driving me crazy and lack of dealer support makes me hate owning the car. Fingers crossed changing them will make a difference and fix some issues.
Many thanks for your prompt and long reply, its most appreciated. I had looked at cross climates but looking on Blackcircles seem expensive, i have a great tyre fitter i have used and will be popping in to pick his brains.

Hard compound tyres are good for longevity, but tend to struggle on traction ( grip ) and can suffer from road noise that transmits to the cabin.
Softer compound tyres are better for grip and in wet conditions.
Road noise is improved, but the downside is they wear faster.
I will take that all day !.

Ask him to balance your wheels again for you.

I have fitted Michelin Cross Climate 3s for their cold weather performance.

I didn't do a before and after noise or vibration test, and hadn't thought about it, but I can't say I drove away from the shop in amazed wonderment, so it must be subtle.

I paid £175 supplied and fitted at a local shop.

The tyres could've flat spotted from sitting at the docks or on the boat for an extended period of time although they usually over inflate them to prevent this.

I would try a different dealer to find out if it is the tyres because if it isn't you're spending a lot of money on the wrong cure.

Tim - Do you intend to switch back to the Bridgestone tyres 🛞 for the summer, or did you sell on the original fit tyres ?.

I shredded one in a pothole, which was the original motivation to change, and sold three.

Historically, I have swapped Summer and Winter, but the advice on here was to go All Season for, um, all seasons.

Funny you should mention this, i did say this to the dealer who brushed it off, however my tyres came well over inflated, if i remember correctly were 48PSI....

To your second point, i have thought about another dealer, however its quite a trek and not sure how that would go, given its another dealers issue?

As it's a warranty issue it shouldn't make any difference. I bought my MG4 from one dealer and had the warranty work (software updates, door handle and CCU replacement) done at another. Not because I had fallen out with the first dealer but the second was closer to home.
