Octopus Free hour tomorrow (Sunday 2pm)

Octopus social media accounts indicating there will be a free hour tomorrow.

Not sure if it is for the whole of the UK or only regional, but their message makes it seem like all customers will qualify.

Seen some complaints from Intelligenters who say the free power method doesn't work for them.

About 60p for those of us on regular "Go," but I think they are doing other things to make it interesting.

Plus I assume it is because the power will go to waste otherwise yet has to be bought, so it is saving us all money on our bills.

If you are on IOG you just have to plug in, they may not charge the car at all, but you will be credited with a free hour on your account.

Intelligent Octopus Go or Intelligent Octopus Flux tariffs get an hour's free charging instead of free extra household power. Here's what you need to do:

During the session, just keep your Intelligent device plugged in, and let our smart schedule do its thing. As long as you do, we'll credit you for an hour's free charging – even if your schedule doesn't actually charge you up during the session.

Use household power as normal, that will be charged at your normal rate.

Yep, just checked the emails and sure enough free power!. I normally charge overnight on Octopus Go at 8p a unit, but this is freeeee. If I was charging at this time of day, it would be 26p per unit. No point in wasting the opportunity.

Yeah just got the story - 14:00 to 15:00 free power. Of course I’ll be away with the car so I’ll perhaps reset the immersion heater to heat water then. I might leave the power bank on a timer / WiFi socket to fill that up. Not much to fill the washing machine with but I’ll leave that timed. I don’t have a dishwasher as that’s a waste of time on my own. Ah - I could leave the toothbrush to recharge

Hmm.. interesting... but having more solar panels than we are allowed to export, won't be able to make use of this 'free' energy. It would be good if they repeat that in December

If you are on IOG then I think you will still benefit from the hours credit, so long as they can control your charger for that hour.

Sunday is when I charge the car up, so far this year my EV charging has all been FREE.
