A year later after umpteen visits to my dealer resulting eventually in a replacement EGR valve. The 'Engine emissions fault' light is back on!!! I suppose i should be grateful as this time for a few seconds i had a red warning light (an unintelligible symbol), which i think I'm right in saying if that stays on you can't continue to drive the car, as it's major engine fault.
Im fairly certain that this car has been, in terms of mechanical issues, the most unreliable car ive owned! Well done MG for achieving the accolade!!!!!!
I would call MG UK, but their customer service team are amongst the most atrocious i have ever come across!!!! The simple truth - they just don't care, presumably working on the basis that there will be plenty more mugs along to buy more cars. Afterall when buying a new car you always think 'it won't happen to me'.
So now on Monday I have to ring around MG dealers to see who can provide me with a courtesy car....
What a complete joke....

What a complete joke KeithS!!! I'm so sorry this is happening to you. I changed from the MG Hybrid+ after 6 months to a MG ZS Hybrid. Apart from the usual high revs now and again, I haven't had any problems, BUT I do fear the day that I do. MG customer service sounds awlful. I do hope this gets sorted for you.😡

Oh Keith, what a bloody nightmare mate, it's been said before, but the whole MG backup system (Customer Service, Parts Supply, Dealers not interested, etc), really spoils the MG driver/ownership experience.

Quite disheartening to read about different people's frustrating experiences with MG dealerships. In contrast to the above, bought our 3 Hybrid Trophy in June 24. One year later I had the amber emissions warning light come up. Contacted my dealer (Richmond MG, Guildford). They booked in the car for a diagnosis. Two days later the light went out, and never reappeared. They carried out the diagnosis regardless and diagnosed 'probably' EGR valve. Called me in two weeks later and fitted a new valve anyway! No further issues. So well done to them and praise where it's due. Generally very pleased with the car.

I used Richmond Guildford for my first service, and they were very efficient, and very competitive on price. If the valve can be fitted as a 'whilst you wait' job, that could be a solution to the courtesy car availability.
