MGS5
I have now owned the MGS5 now for exactly 1 month and have really enjoyed the learning curve on every level, mainly the cost of my motoring which has down to one quarter, I use to spend around £80 per month on fuel but now with a (granny charger and a low over night tariff) I am saving around £60 a month.
Also would like to thank you all for answering threads when I was struggling to adapt to an MG EV .

The thing that both amuses and slightly befuddles me is that if you offer a private motorist (i.e. someone who pays for their own fuel) the opportunity of going to a motorway service station and paying £1.75 as opposed to £1.35 in a normal petrol station, they will roll their eyes and say "no way". That is to a 40% difference.

But the difference between 6.7p and 81p is 1200%, and yet people seem to shrug it off, on the grounds that even at the more expensive end of the scale it is still comparable with a tank full of petrol.

It just seems odd. No particular point to make.

Presumably people only go for rapid charging when they are on a long journey and cannot make it to their home/destination.

Right? [insert Padme/Anakin meme]

I think people are replying to the argument that you shouldn't get an EV because you will sometimes have to charge it at a more expensive rate. My response to that is 'very worst case scenario you are paying the same as petrol, so you are at least as well-off and almost certainly making significant savings'

Your point does apply when it comes to taking a diversion and spending extra time to go to a Tesla supercharger which will cost 60% of the motorway rapid charging option.

What car did you have before, there would be no way I could cover 1000 miles in my Sportage for £80?
Hi, I had a Toyota CH-R was as good car but needed the change for a EV and I am very happy I did 👍

This was in traffic in town but still came good on MPG 👍

In some people's minds, I think owning an EV is off the list because of ignorance, fear and how different it might be.

So it doesn't really matter how much cheaper it is to run, it is like telling them to replace their bicycle with a unicycle - it does not compute.

I started driving electric because I was given an electric company car. Before that I was as ignorant as everyone else (I'll buy one when they cost £10,000 and can go 500 miles etc.). It didn't take long to convert me and I honestly cannot ever see myself going back to ICE.
People just need to experience EV to see for themselves.

In 2016 was my first introduction to a car that was powered in some way by an electric motor and HV battery.
It was a VW Golf plug in hybrid.
I bought the car because I enjoyed the feel that electric drive gave me.
Within 30 minutes I was hooked !.
We had the car for nearly four years and I enjoyed every minute of driving it.
I had no idea of how much money it was going to save me at that time.
What I did realise was, that my next car HAD to be full electric 100%.
As it turned out, it was the most economical and powerful car I had ever owned.
It was GTI performance with Polo fuel economy.
It would regularly return around 100 mpg by using the electric drive as much as possible.
I truly never believed that the fully EV could be even more economical.
After buying the first model of the MG ZS EV and charging at home all of the time at 5p / kWh it quickly became apparent that I was completely wrong !.
The running costs of the full EV had taken it to another level, beyond the plug in hybrid.
We are now on our third full EV and would not consider returning to an ICE.
The driving experience is just much better altogether I think.
We have just upgraded from our current LR ZS EV Trophy ( facelift model ) after about 3 years and six months, now into a MGS5 Trophy LR on Saturday.
Only covered 80 ish miles, but the improvements are pretty clear to both feel and see.
The improvement in efficiency is noticeable already.
