Hi everyone,

I have a question about tyre pressure. I took delivery of my new ZS Hybrid+ yesterday and noticed that the tyre pressure was 3.2 bar for all 4 tyres (Car had been taken out by the dealer yesterday morning I assume as they had put some petrol in and it was a warm day so the air had expanded). I have checked again this morning from cold (6:15 am UK time) and they were all at 3.0 bar, are they too full given the manual says max is 2.5 bar or do many of you have your tyres set that high?

I wasn't sure if the dealer (Arnold Clark) knows best or they have just not taken air out after the car was delivered to them.

Any advice on this would be appreciated.

Chris

Tyres are commonly overinflated during delivery/storage to prevent flat spotting but that should be corrected at PDI so it's sounds as if your dealer hasn't done this correctly. Set them to the correct pressure and you will be fine.

Just checked mine with the Ismart app all 4 are at 3,4 bar, they have been like that since I got the car in March, normally they are 3.2 bar, but the car is in direct sunlight, I have not noticed any problems with the handling or general driving of the car, the app says the tyre pressure is normal.

They are supposed to be 2.5 bar as indicated by the label on the door pillar. Yours are way too high to the point of being unsafe.

For all I know the app might just be checking they are all similar pressure.
Your tyres are at 49 psi compared to the 36psi recommended.
Do you not find it harsh over bumps?
No not at all, its better than my Renualt Arkana was on the road, i have noticed that the internal temperature indication is not accurate, its now set at 24 degrees, I always had it at 20 degrees in my last car, but 20 degrees in the MG is freezing, so not sure if 3.2 bar is accurate as well, I may pop into Kwikfit and ask them.

I have just watched a video on youtube about the Ismart app, part of it you could see the tyre pressures, they were at 2.3 bar for 3 and 1 at 2.4 bar, 3 were marked as abnormal, I will check mine with a gauge, the link below is for the video.

I have just checked the tyre pressures with a Ryobi tyre inflator, it has a build in pressure gauge, it showed 41 psi, so I let air out until they were all at 37 psi as it says on the door pillar, I then checked the app again, it shows that 3 are at 3.4 bar and 1 at 3.3 bar, so not sure what`s going on, I will see what difference it make to the drive

Maybe you need to do a short drive to recalibrate the tyre pressure readings on the app?

Word of caution most electronic tyre pressure gauges are not calibrated. I have 3 electric tyre pumps all with automatic cutoff when selected tyre pressure is reached. When checked with my old manual gauge they are all different. The main thing is that all 4 tyres are the same pressure.

A comment from me: I noticed after 5,000 km that the tire pressure of 3.2 bar with which the car was delivered is actually higher than the prescribed pressure. I assume that SAIC does this only for transport from China. Recently, I was driving on the highway with a temperature of about 29°C, and at a certain point, a high tire pressure warning appeared on the display, as three out of four tires had reached 3.5 bar due to overheating. The next day, I adjusted the tire pressure to 2.5 bar as prescribed in the manual and on the label on the driver’s door side. The car is now more comfortable, but unfortunately, the setup is a bit less sporty than before. In fact, I didn’t mind the initial setup, but I know that with a pressure of 3.2 bar, the tires probably wear out much faster. Has anyone else noticed a change in the setup after adjusting the tire pressure to 2.5 bar?

I have now driven the car after altering the tyre pressures, after a few minuets the reading in the car changed to the new settings, I stopped and checked the app, they had also changed as well, it drives even better now even though I thought it was pretty good before, I will see how it goes after a longer drive, but happy now , thanks to Krisbow for highlighting this.
