Rather than make a new thread I thought this would fit here -
Got a screw in a tyre on my ZS Trophy, so 18 inch wheels.
The tyres that have to go on this car are considered heavy load ones. The cheapest that either Kwik Fit, Halfords or Central Tyre can get in are the Giti ones, at c.£150 a pop fitted. Tried with a local garage and they said they cannot put the same size tyres on that aren't rated as heavy load for insurance reasons, as if anything went wrong and it was traced back to them, then they have liability.
So like everything in this world, you try and do the right thing and try and be efficient, you get punished, as the weight of hybrid cars and electric vehicles require these tyres, even though the ZS is lighter than a great deal of fuel only vehicles.
Ironically I got the screw in my tyre while at the recycling centre. Maybe I should just burn my rubbish.
Rant over!!
