P button on main dial

Does anyone know what pressing the P bottom on the main dial does? Is it just another way of activating the parking brake?

Puts it in Park. Ie not in drive, not in reverse, and parking brake applied.

With many auto / DSG boxes and some EV’s pressing the P button will lock the transmission also.
I don’t believe this is the case with the ZS EV however.
The car is held purely by the rear brakes only.

I never used it. I figured I can skip that step whenever I power down the car as it applies the same electric parking brake before powering off. Yay!

The "P" parking brake button will apply the brake, but the car will still be in "Drive", so if you touch the go pedal, the car will move forwards. If you press the "P" on the dial, it disengages the drive mode and puts on the parking brake.
