We had a killer cat over here in Mannum, he had a big enclosed run, with a cat flap about a mtr off the ground through a window, that had a cat elevator, 900mm sq vertical cage with shelves staged each side well within jumping height, went across the house under the eves, zigzagged to the end of the carport, along the fence at a 45* climb, right up to the back fence and 1 mtrs up a 3 mtr high x 2mtr square enclosure, with various walkways with artificial grass for him to use as his daytime rest area if it was dry as well as his toilet and second water bowl.
We left him home on our first trip in the motorhome after we got he (rescue cat) and he had lost his voice by the time we returned, the neighbour said no matter what she tried, he would stop crying out for us, so he always travelled with us and the dog after that
When he travelled with us the various motorhomes, he would find away to escape, terrorize the local areas cats and dogs, but they would line up to pay their respects each night when he came in to sleep .... I reckon they were just making sure he was locked in so they could sleep peacefully
Just before we headed off on our trip with the Fuso motorhome, he did a strange move of putting a complete front leg over our Chihuahua and gave him a reassuring and comforting gesture, absolutely freaked the dog.
The dog would always stand his ground against the cat when the cat would try the intimidating run and lunge at him .... so they had a sort of understanding, the cat was at least 3 times the size of the dog, every inch was muscle.
Later, the cat came out to see me in the motorhome, gave me a good cuddle, two arms and back strain required to hold the red terror, then he looked up at me gave me strange meow/cry, snuggled in and then wanted to be put back on the ground ..... and that was the last we saw of him .... waited an extra 3 days before we headed off, did all our usual routines to get him to come inside, nothing ......
We returned from the short trip, still no sign of the cat, walked the whole area behind our house and up into the hill for the 2kms back into town ... no sign, no cat appearing.
We headed off for our long trip of 2 1/2 mths, parked in the driveway in front of the house, next day was crap weather, following day the wife had an appointment in the closest larger town, 36kms away, received a phone call from the neighbour, your house and motorhome are on fire. The wind was so strong coming across the river, it burnt to back fence down where the cat cage was mounted inside the 90* corner, poor cat wouldn't had had a chance ........
So, where he went, I hope he is still having a happy life, miss that cat terribly
