Thanks for bringing this campaign to the forum.
It seems a very straightforward and easy way forward and I personally support it.
Just to give voice to what others are saying...........
The counter argument is from is from those who are campaigning for EV charging to be as cheap as possible who claim contactless or cashier style charging units (paying with coins or paper money) increases charging cost dramatically.
As you may have already noticed these contactless charging units come with exorbitant connection charges resulting in quite significant increase in charging costs and this is why several community and local council sponsored services have gone for RFID cards or mobile phone apps.
For me personally this is not an issue as some providers still charge connection fees even with app or Rfid cards. That said their connection charges are significantly lower compared to contactless no membership / registration required units.
At the moment given the experience of what happened with car parks etc, some providers are not keen on this issue. Yes contactless may be cheaper than coins and paper money but as soon as one pushes for contactless a whole host of arguments arise to justify coin and paper money as well and cost just goes out of the window.
For most Boffins in the industry at present there is no rush to contactless it will come in the long run when there are so many EV uses that the banks and the charging providers are happy to absorb the cost.
