Nobody knows how it works, even MG don't know how it works
That’s the thing though, my economy is far better on short runs around town as HEV mostly is EV, apart from random engine on periods. Haven’t used AC since summer and heating setting is a consistent 21C. I get worse MPG on long runs with rpm around 2400 and battery at c.10%. Makes no sense. My old petro Grandland used to return 48mpg on long journeys, getting around 40mpg in my HSThis is 3rd iteration of this setup first 3 then zs now hs and the same question is in all of them. I bought a 3 and have same problem when I require heater to keep screen clear and heat car engine runs. Still happy at 40 to 50 mpg but dont expect economy with very short journeys.
Same applies on long runs if heater reqd or anything like my 3 hybrid windows always steam up. I generally switch heating off and on if I leave it to control itself long runs I get 45mpg if I switch heaters or anything that requires engine I get over 50 in colder weather. It's a quirky system which isn't great if all you want to do is drive. Interesting just looked and noticed on tech for HS it has a two speed auto rather than the three that is in the 3 and zs.That’s the thing though, my economy is far better on short runs around town as HEV mostly is EV, apart from random engine on periods.
