Not an MG
Hello everyone,

I am intersted in buying an MG ZS hybrid +. I know the car has good mpg in town driving and i like driving hybrids. However i do monthly a long trip in motorway. Some reviewers say i should expect at most 40mpg UK. That's disappointing in comparison to my current diesel. What is your real mpg at 75 miles per hour?

Thank you

To the forum. 🙂👍

I took my ZS Hybrid + alone the M42, A42 to East Midlands Airport in July and I managed to do 55 mpg. The engine ticked over at 2700 rpm at 70mph, when the electric kicked in the revs dropped to 1700 rpm. The car was fully loaded with 4 people and 4 large cases in the boot.

I have managed 62mpg on a long run (motorways). But, on other occasions can be 45 - 50 mpg. It mostly depends how you drive, and weather conditions. If you have heating or air con on, then this takes lots of battery power, which causes the engine to run and burn fuel.

You have to learn what makes the engine switch on, and how to fool the engine, so it switches to electric.

My personal opinion on the ZS+ is that the engine is not as economical as other similar models, but the electric motor is fantastic compared to similar.
