Bought 2x MGZs 2022 ex demonstrators (one a trophy) from MG dealerships in Stoke and then onto Leeds.
On collecting and heading back up to Glasgow, needed to charge both cars numerous times, no major concerns.
Last rapid charge at 00:30, using separate ‘grid serve’ chargers, both cars ended up in protective ‘battery discharge’ mode, rendering them useless. With no AA, managed to call upon MG who helped, but with a fight.
Both cars remain in Carlisle: the MG garage has reset, blaming the chargers and holding them to ransom until the bill settled.
Still within the 14 days, we soooo feel like telling MG we’ve ‘changed our minds’. However, when they worked, they were both so much fun!
Does anyone know if these cars might not be compatible with grid serve? Or if a software update before collecting them, would have helped the issue (something the rescue service mentioned)?
Huge thanks.
A tip for anyone collecting a new EV- MG, via AA will only cover you if you have your new road tax reference number, as on the drive home, it won’t show on the government website. Keep this on you!
