I've carried out a search without result so apologies if the answer is already on here somewhere.

Despite the fact that our pair of electric bikes haven't been on the £600 worth of tow bar I had fitted to the Outlander solely for that purpose 6 years ago I've started thinking about in relation to the facelift ZS or 5.

Assuming for the moment that these behemoths and their towbar bike carrier actually weigh less that 50 kilos what happens with the rear sensors when that lot is perched behind the car?

Are the tow bar electrics wired into the car's canbus (do they still have those?) so that when you plug in the bike carrier the car 'knows' that something is attached to the back of the car and cancels all of the warnings that you would otherwise get if something was in such proximity to the car?

I know a lot of manufacturers insist on buyers specifying 'tow bar preparation' if you intend to subsequently fit an aftermarket tow bar otherwise the car is not deemed suitable for towing.

What's the situation with MG?
