Evening,

Can’t find anything specific, but could the 5’s key be picked up by a relay device? I know it’s not a true keyless system as you have to press the door button to lock/unlock, but thinking it may be worth keeping in a faraday bag all the same.

Granted it’s not a M3, but I imagine it’s worth a bit parts.

I would think so. Given that the fob will always be broadcasting, otherwise pressing the button on the door simply wouldn't do anything.

I don't tend to worry about it when I'm just pootling around at home. But If I'm down in the South East visiting relatives, or doing a long motorway journey which will require visiting services I'll pop my key into a faraday pouch.

It's something I've done since owning my first car with a keyless entry and after a friend had his Land Rover stolen from a car park in the West Midlands.

These pouches from Amazon are a good buy at £7.99 a pair and I can confirm they most certainly will block any signal from an MG5 keyfob
