Since I got my HS + Hybrid in Dec25 the auto boot foot activation has never worked & in settings it was activated.
However to my surprise once the snow disappeared it has decided to activate albeit intermittently , not one of MG's best ideas !.
Not a problem but really not required especially as it's not the best feature.

Lachie .

How should be acticated by foot?
In the HS TROPHY HYBRID model there is a sensor that if you swipe your foot under the rear bumper it releases the bootlid .

It's not the most efficient 50% of the time so it doesn't work always & I think the car has to be locked at the time .

Just manually or use the key saves you looking stupid when swiping your foot & nothing happens ! Lol

I had the same problem with Fords, never tried the MG HS so don't know how well it works. I look on it as just a gimmick to be used only as a last resort, unless you are a good samba dancer and can dance on one leg.

Lol . A bit like a party piece that never works but I honestly think it's probably just dirty or crap ! .

Cheers Lachie

I watched a Polish review of the MG HS when i was trying to decide what to buy, and he demonstrated the foot movement under the boot to open it, more like a comedy routine, not very successful. He made the opinion that if you stand too near the boot, it will not operate because of the danger of the opening boot knocking you off balance when you are on one leg with your arms full of packages. I give you this comment for what it's worth.

Yes I've tried again this morning & you definitely can't touch the car when trying to 'ballet' with your foot , I'll stick with the button or key .

On a serious note, the smart tailgate on my Ford had a quirk that if I dropped a heavy package onto the boot floor the vibration operated the closer and the boot lid came down on top of me as I was leaning in the boot. Not saying the MG is the same and I don't intend to try it to find out, but be warned.

Thanks for the heads up & I wouldn't be surprised even though it's supposed to have a anti pinch sensor like the door windows .
One things for sure my MG' s safety alerts etc don't like frosty weather but car goes fine but all the fancy alerts etc just turn orange .
So much for NCAP 4×××× eh !.
