Salary sacrifice scheme

Hello folks,

New to the forums but have ordered an IM6 LR through salary sacrifice. My monthly cost has come in at £330.00 a month inclusive of insurance and maintenance etc.

Hope this helps 👍🏻.

No probs!

I went for 6k as if I get close to the mileage limit I swap cars with the other half who does no more than 3k a year so in a lucky position to be able to do so.

There was speculation online that salary sacrifice was one of the things the government were considering shafting in next months budget
To be fair it wouldn’t surprise me these days. If that is the case then I will review if remains a ‘decent’ option (nothing is truly too good to miss - always a catch!).

It's on various financial sites that are speculating what will be in the budget.

Changes to the salary sacrifice system, either by capping the amount individuals can sacrifice or by removing either or both of the national insurance and tax exemptions on salary sacrifice payments.

I thought the changes will to BIK increasing by 1% each year.
At the moment BIK for a EV is 3% this will increase each year by 1% to a maximum of 8%.
This is slot better than a PHEV which by year 3 rises to 18%.
But whether you are a 20% taxpayer or 40% the benefit to offset the tax on your gross can still be worth it.
If it does get to expensive I can see the car manufacturers reducing the cost of the cars to the supplying companies to offset their losses and keep volumes up.
When you consider that the majority of new cars sold currently in the UK is through either a sacrifice scheme, leasing or even if you work for one of the manufacturers or their supply chain you can get a car on their scheme for yourself or family. Which ever way you do it each one goes down as a sold car.
