Sat nav sound

I have had my hybrid for a while but never used the sat nav.
Now I need to use it for holidays but alas no sound, I have been through sat nav settings to no avail, the section that mentions voice and street names is greyed out.
Any help would be appreciated.

Check under Volume Settings in the main Settings menu?
