I am new to the forum, we have a Gen 1 ZS ev. We have only had it a bit over a year and have done about 15 thousand kilometres in it. It has been great. We had one fault where it had to be taken to the dealer and have some software changed. The car started adding fault lights and did not want to clear them, so the dealer changed some software.
Once it did not want to charge on a fast charger, but disconnecting the 12 volt battery fixed that.
The only other fault we had was with rodents. A rat decided to live in the engine bay and ate through the brake booster hose.
This caused the car to give a Power System Failure message and also to go into Turtle mode. The brakes worked but were very spongey.
Fortunately this happened at home, and I found it easily. I replaced the hose and the car is normal again.
We live in a remote area and have an off grid house. I have lived with Solar power now for over 40 years and love it. The car is charged from solar panels with a Zappi charger that I installed. We like being able to make our own fuel.

Hello there,
New to the forum.
We are interested in buying a used MG5 facelift model but are struggling to actually view one. We live in Edinburgh and all the used cars of this type are for sale in England. Anyone out there near Edinburgh with the newer MG5 who would be so kind as to let us have a look around/sit in it? Don't need to drive it! Not sure how you send a private message on here, but please DM me if you can help.
Thanks, Esme

Hope you find someone.

Otherwise it looks like you might have to take a trip to Ashington or Morecambe!

Or you could take a risk and order a Cinch one and maybe they would let you change your mind.

Indeed, we've seen how cinch works, we just feel awfully bad about moving a car that far that we aren't certain about. And long weekend road trips are unlikely during a busy summer break with the kids! Fingers crossed someone from Scotland with a new MG5 sees this! 🤞

Has The Magnette been sold then, @Archev?

Has The Magnette been sold then, @Archev?
Yes the wonderful Magnette finally seems to have been sold I think I shall check in the morning - it was pretty slow to sell but has disappeared from Arnold Clark’s sales list I’m sure.
It was a fine machine indeed. I notice @esme that you specify the later version while the one I called the Magnette was the earlier long range one.
There’s not a lot of difference to my eye but they are fine cars.

Thanks, yes, we have seen the older version but are keen to see them both before we decide.
Any other Scots with the newer MG5, please shout out! 😁

Hello,

I'm new here and also new to plug-in hybrids. I got my 2023 model year EHS a week ago. So far, I'm very excited about the car, even though it has a few issues. The infotainment system crashes occasionally, the rear tyre pressure sensors are inaccessible, and the button for the electric tailgate has fallen inwards.

I hope to have some nice conversations and get a few tips ;)

Hello everyone,

I found this place via Google because I was looking for information about replacing the inverter in the MG4 I was planning to buy. I noticed it's a huge community with a wealth of knowledge. It looks like a strong support group for electric MGs. Respect!

I'm using a Leaf 1 24kWh as a second car (max range 120km) and it covers 90% of my family's needs. The second car is our 2016 Grand Caravan, which is unbeatable when it comes to longer family trips.

I live in Poland, and we have a very poor fast charging infrastructure, so I charge my Leaf mainly at home ('for free' because of PV) or free of charge at work.

Thinking recently of replacing old leaf with MG, as MGs are so inexpensive and opinions are so great (for it's price range) + the 7y warranty sounds great! even if I buy 2-3yo 2nd hand I would feel secured.....so I started too look for one, in the meantime I'd like to learn here what are the issues, solutions, workaround, diagnostic tools, etc.....

Happy to join you!
Roger

Hello Roger, welcome to MGEVs, which model of MG are you interested in?
my use case - 50km per day around the town, 2 times per month 150-300km trip.

preferred MG4 - due to it's small factor, then MG5 (after 2022) - so practical! or ZS (after 2022) - also looks nice especially luxury version with sunroof :)
whichever I found first in acceptable price. As I mentioned trying to catch opportunity somewhere in Poland, Germany, Netherlands....

Our MG4 standard range will do 300km with ease. We absolutely love it, but have lane keep assist turned off, and don't use adaptive cruse control.
The software improves with latest firmware, the early stuff was a bit "clunky"

Yes this is a great friendly forum.
But if it came to exchanging inverters most here would have to let the dealers do it, otherwise it voids the warranty.
Talking about the 7 year warranty, that's a bit misleading, apparently it's only for the battery. Other parts of the car are covered for different lengths of time.

There are a few people here, that have/are rebuilding wrecked cars, and know about the diagnostic systems, so you could have some luck with help/advise if you have to do your own repairs.
