Servicing costs are very confusing between dealers and MG - no consistency in prices or descrption

Well I said in earlier posts that I was going to take it to my original dealer Sandicliffe MG, Loughborough for its first service, who told me be email that the price would be £234.42, well I just had an email with a link to confirm my booking for this Tuesday 2nd Sept, so I started the check in process and it says the cost would be £336! Crazy, so I am going to cancel and go elsewhere, I just can't trust them.

I've just booked my car in for its first service. My local dealer quoted a price of £235.00.

Ok, end of my saga for now. as I said I cancelled my first service yesterday with Sandicliffe MG, Loughborough beciuse they were going to try and charge me £336.00! and I booked with Drive Motor Retail MG, Leicester who carried out the first service today (briiliant that they could do it at such short notice) and they charged mer £ 182.86! with full itemised invoice showing all the parts used: oil filter etc. and they washed and did a mini valet and renewed the breakdown cover. So, brilliant - I would highly recommend them, no hassle, they texted me with an update on what was happening during the service and when it was ready. So, if Leicester or any of the other MG dealers they own are in your area I would use them, at that price it ias worth travelling for.

The only downside to all of this, is the jumping through hoops I've had to do - that really should not be necessary and something is seriously wrong when 2 dealers are £153.14 difference, the highest prcie was nearly double the lowest price! MG needs to sort it out

1st service done. Cost = €211.49 (equal to £184.72).
Total time taken three hours (8:30/11:30), because they also checked (at my request) to make sure I had already installed all the latest updates. Everything OK.

I used Drive Motor in Patchway Bristol, as that's where I bought the car, and they charged me the same price as you were charged, although I didn't need to pay as I've got the three year service and 1st MOT plan I pay monthly for. It amazes me some people get charged a lot more.

Just bought a 10 month old MG3 Hybrid+ from a main dealer in Cardiff (Nathaniels) .. They are offering a service plan @ £799 for 2/3/4 year services (having done the 1st service as part of the deal) also including "free" MOTs for life and annual AA roadside assistance , provided that I use one of their dealerships. Reading this thread, I'm inclined to think that this is a reasonable deal -unless anyone has had bad experiences with this group ?

I agree that sounds like a really good deal. It would be worth travelling to Cardiff to get your car serviced by them - Cardiff is a very nice place to visit as well. For the prices some other dealers are charging the costs of a hotel for an overnight stay would still be cheaper Although in the end I was very happy with the dealer I used: Drive Motor Retail MG, Leicester

I took your advice and did get to speak to Nicola Warburton but the price was £331.51, she couldn't say why it was so much, just that's the price unless I took out a service plan whihc would be a little bit cheaper. So crazy money, I'm staying with my local dealer, but thanks for your help.

Hi, Did you get you service done at Sandicliffe Loughborough and if so may I ask what it cost you.
I bought a new HS hybrid+ last week from Sandiclife Nottingham and am undecided where to get it serviced or warranty work. Stoneacre Derby is the closest to me and then Sandicliffe Loughborough.
I live in Aston on Trent Derby Quote from Sandicliffe Nottingham, Ist service 255.04 2nd 400.46, 3rd 595.13 as you say a rip off. Probably the low mileage services would be cheaper. These prices were for a 3yr service plan. I have used Sandicliffe Loughborough for Ford Servicing on and off over the last 60 yrs ( born in Loughborough) and found them OK. But times are changing with more complex cars and higher labour costs. Time MG standardised the servicing costs plus or minus to suit different areas.
