Marvel R
Hi everyone,
I’m hoping to get some input on this issue:

I have an MG Marvel R Performance (2022), and on many public Type 2 AC chargers the charging speed is extremely slow.
Right now, for example, it’s charging at around 1.3 kW.

Some context:

Winter here in Finland
Outside temperature: around –10 to -15 °C
Parking hall with current type 2 charger temperature: around – 4 °C

This has happened before, even in milder weather, but usually at ~3 kW, not as low as 1.3 kW.

At home, using my own Type 2 charger, the car charges normally at ~9 kW, even in winter, even in -15 °C
DC fast charging (CCS) works fine, almost without issue.

So the issue seems to be mostly with some public Type 2 AC chargers.

I’m wondering if anyone here has experience with:
  • Cold temperatures significantly limiting AC charging on the Marvel R?
  • Communication/handshake issues between the car and certain public AC chargers?
  • A faulty or partially failing onboard AC charger?
  • Public chargers falling back to single-phase or very low current for some reason?

I have a maintenance for the infotainment update scheduled, as well as both side mirror cameras going dark, and I did tell them about this issue.
Last time they did nothing about it it seems, as the issue persists.

Any experiences, insights, or similar cases would be really appreciated
