IM6
Just received the below from MG customer care, thought you all might find it useful ! I should add that the comment regarding nav updates is incorrect, I’ve looked on the site and the im6 ( uk version) is not listed.
Good morning,

Thank you for contacting MG Customer Care,
Thank you for reaching out and sharing your observations regarding your IM6 Long Range. We appreciate your detailed feedback and understand how important these features are to your driving experience.

At present:

  • OTA updates are available for essential fixes, and further enhancements are planned, though we do not have confirmed timelines for specific features.
  • Some functions you mentioned—such as auto main-beam dip, display auto-dimming, and ADAS calibration for UK roads—are known areas for improvement and may require software updates.
  • Navigation map updates can be performed via the Naviextras Toolbox using a USB connection to your PC.
  • Items such as phone cooling, DAB reception, and voice accent options are under review, but no official release dates have been announced.
  • The key fob design is currently standard, and there is no alternative available at this time.
We recommend staying connected through the MG iSmart app for OTA notifications and liaising with your MG dealership for any dealer-based updates or feature enhancements as they become available.

Your feedback has been shared with our product team to help prioritize improvements. If you would like, we can arrange for your local dealer to contact you directly regarding any upcoming updates.

Kind Regards,

Alima

Interesting, I just had this from them for some queries I sent (at least they are responding):

Thank you for sharing your concerns regarding the IM6. We appreciate your detailed feedback and understand how important these features are to your ownership experience.

At present, some of the items you’ve highlighted—such as OTA updates, intelligent lighting, and certain comfort features—are areas where improvements are planned. OTA functionality is available for essential updates, and we expect further enhancements to be delivered over time. However, we do not have a published roadmap or specific timelines for individual features at this stage.

Please note that some features may require dealer-based software updates or hardware adjustments rather than OTA alone. For the most accurate and up-to-date information, we recommend contacting your MG dealership, as they can confirm current capabilities and any scheduled updates.

I replied with a thank you and -

I do hope that there will be some notification to owners about new updates as they come or at least a web site where we could enter out car details to check. Such a system is common for other cars and much more efficient than us all trying to contact our dealers just to check...

Hi Mike
Very similar to the response I received today. I spoke to my dealer about updates and they said that they will only apply updates to fix specific issues with the car and that they have no programme at present to roll out “enhancements that might be available

Very interesting reading.

It's this that makes me worry that ordering another MG might be a mistake. The aftersales on my MG4 has been woeful and the above suggests an IM experience may be the same.

I read this very differently. I am pleased we have had some response and not surprised by the lack of detail. Hyundai customer services were woeful in their knowledge….

Someone did post on the FB group that they had had an OTA update and now had auto dim headlights……. I asked for photos but never got a response………….

Maybe I'm just grumpy still from all the nonsense I've had with the 4!

My order for an IM6 LR is in with Octopus EV. Until they give me a delivery date, I'm free to change.

Really great to read early owner feedback though. Grateful for this forum for that! Keep it coming :)

Must be alot cheaper to push out better software than those existing customers bitching about, and the reputation those customers give MG for lower future sales.

I suggest you read some of the software threads in the MG 4 forum, MG don't really care how much people complain, they aren't really bothered about repeat customers, they only care about getting cars out the door

This is the official line, from the MG Call Centre, in the UK.
We can confirm that the MG IM6 supports OTA updates, which will be delivered directly to your vehicle without requiring a dealer visit. This ensures that enhancements and fixes are applied promptly, similar to the approach used by leading EV manufacturers.

Yes, we know it SUPPORTS them. What we do not know is when, what and how will they be done and how will we know if one is available?

"Which will be delivered directly to your vehicle", not which can be delivered. That seems to be confirmation that it will happen. As to when, who knows but, then, one does not know when any update will arrive, even on a Tesla. Notification just appears in the app or in the car that one is available to download.

But we do not know how or even if we will be notified for OTA or any other updates available inc those from the dealer and for the nav.
I'm not sure why you are being so negative. Until now, as far as I am aware, no-one has had official confirmation that the OTA updates will be delivered in the UK. I have simply confirmed that that is the case and not just that the car is capable of receiving them.

Not being negative. Just realistic. MG seem not to know or less likely be unwilling to tell us. Moreover, will OTA updates be via mobile or wifi? If wifi we will have to ensure it is enabled in the car as it disconnects every time you enable it.

I think I have to agree with your comments Mike, it would appear that dealerships / MG customer care are unable to agree what should happen. The fact that we don’t seem to be able to get the correct information is frustrating to say the least. Let’s hope it all resolves itself quickly.

I really do not understand why MG is so reluctant to go ahead with OTAs.
I mean if BYD, a company with far less presence and history in the UK up till last year happily rolls them out (wife's car already had 2 significant updates the last year) then why MG is holding back?
